Leukemia Update
Today marks half way done with the first stage of Eliot's treatment which is called induction. This part which is 4 weeks long is said to be the hardest part. We made it half way baby!!!
Our doctor (who looks kind of like Dr. Cox from Scrubs - check him out for yourself) said the word remission and Eliot's name in the same sentence today. It made my heart jump.
Eliot is technically in remission right now. There is a fancy word for this kind of remission - basically by looking at his cells with a microscope there are less than 5% leukemic cells (3% a week ago) and that counts as remission.
On January 18th he'll get another spinal tap and bone marrow biopsy and they'll take a look at the cells with some super crazy fancy up close and personal method to see whats going on. On that day they assume we'll see something like less than point one percent leukemic cells - and thus basically none - and thus Eliot will be in (yes this is my version of a medical term) super duper official remission.
We'll get that news on January 25th.
