Antidepressants
So we made the powerful and scary decision today not to give Eliot antidepressants during this round of steroids.
As much as it would be wonderful if we gave them to him and they helped with all things there are no guarantees.
I talked with a child psychiatrist friend and she said anti-depressants can actually activate kids and make them more agitated and make it hard for them to sleep. Yuck.
The doctors told me today the side-effects tend to be minimal and one that you can count on is that it will irritate Eliot's liver.
Yikes. Everything he is taking will irritate his liver.
They've seen anti-depressants help kids in the past. They say they can do it. They say its a balancing act.
We're going to stick it out without them.
This time around we knew it was coming. I have help for at least a few hours on most days he is on anti-depressants. We weren't all in the hospital for 12 days before they got going this time. Its not Christmas time this time.

Can he be out in the sunshine or is all this stuff going into his body going make him sensitive to the sun?
Anti-depressant prayers headed your way - to lift up Eliot and all of you. Rest in them.
He can go in the sun as long as he is thurougly caked in sun screen.
